August 8, 2022 – Music Biz Member YouTube Announces Partnership With Shopify
Online video sharing platform, YouTube has announced a new partnership with Canadian multinational e-commerce company, Shopify, launching new features for viewers and creators. In this new partnership, creators can now sell their products by linking their e-commerce stores to their channels and tagging products to a live stream via Live Control Room. This will allow creators to manage how their products will appear in their channels with YouTube’s new tool, the “Shopping” tab. August 8, 2022 – Music Biz Member Facebook Launches Music Revenue Sharing Program
Facebook has launched a Music Revenue Sharing program that will allow video creators to add 60 seconds or longer of licensed music to their content, allowing them to earn a 20% share of in-stream advertising income. The program will allow creators to track and monitor their expected earnings via Creator Studio. “This feature is the first of its kind within the music industry,” said Meta in a statement. “No other platform offers creators this type of revenue model at this scale.” Click here to read more from Music Week.... August 4, 2022 – Music Biz Member Spotify Upgrades Blend Playlist Tool, Adds Merch Purchasing
Music streaming service, Spotify has announced upgrades to its Blend playlist tool, which creates a personalized playlist by syncing your music taste with your friend or favorite artists, to include more artists for fans to choose from. Once blended with your favorite artist, users will receive a “taste match” score calculating similarities and differences. that will now allow the opportunity to purchase merchandise via the artist’s page. August 3, 2022 – Music Biz Member Single Partners With Shopify To Launch Tokengated Commerce In Mobile App
Single has launched a tokengated commerce & content feature on their app, allowing creators to mint any file on the platform into an NFT, which can then be purchased on their Shopify storefront. Purchased NFTs can be used as a “digital keys” that offer fans access to exclusive merchandise, video content, livestreams and more. August 3, 2022 – Music Biz Member Twitch Launches ‘Twitch Charity’ For Easy Charity Streams
Live video streaming service, Twitch has announced Twitch Charity, a new built-in fundraising feature allowing users to organize and create fundraising streams with ease. To utilize this feature, users can enable “charity mode” to unlock the “Donate to Charity” button so users can donate funds to the creator’s fundraiser of choice. August 3, 2022 – Music Biz Member Instagram Announces New ‘Boost’ Feature
Instagram has announced a new feature allowing businesses to ‘Boost’ Reels into advertisements. The new tool can be found by tapping the “Boost Post” button on the Reel profile grid. Boosted Reels require videos to be 60 seconds or less, in a 9:16 aspect ratio, and filmed vertically for full-screen format. August 1, 2022 – Music Biz Member Apple Music Launches “Antidote Editions” For Alternative Artists
Music streaming service, Apple Music has launched a new initiative championing Alternative music, Antidote Editions. Participating artists will record four exclusive songs in Spatial Audio that will be added to their latest album release exclusively on the Apple Music platform. Singer Beabadoobee was the first artist to release music in this new series, recording new versions of songs from her latest album, Beatopia: “10:36,” “See You Soon” and “The Perfect Pair,” as well as a cover of a track from The Strokes.... August 1, 2022 – Music Biz Member CD Baby Announces Keynote Speakers At DIY Musician Conference
CD Baby is back for their first conference since the start of the pandemic with the DIY Musician Conference, to be held on August 26-28 in Austin, Texas at the Hilton Austin. Keynote speakers at this year’s event will include songwriters Kara Dioguardi and Ross Goland, NY Times best-selling author Austin Kelon, and legendary live music producer Tom Jackson. The three-day weekend will offer one-on-one mentorships, songwriting and marketing workshops, keynote events, and jam sessions. Music credit platform, Muso.AI has launched their new Pro+ plan which includes the long-requested ability to track multiple artists’ analytics from one account. Five “roster seats” are included with the Pro+ plan, allowing for seamless viewing of each selected artists’ data.
