Music Biz’s Academic Partnership program was founded as a way to meet the specific needs of both our industry’s next generation of leaders and those who educate them. Once a college or university becomes an Academic Partner, all of their undergraduate students and faculty gain access to a slate of benefits that specifically support music business education and early career development.

As one of our most valued benefits, students from Academic Partnership institutions are eligible to apply for financial grants from our Scholarship Foundation. In 2021, the Foundation raised $100,000. This allowed us to give $5,000 award packages to 20 outstanding students!

Music Biz’s bi-annual #NEXTGEN_U student summits feature keynotes, panel discussions and breakout groups focused on supporting members of the academic community. Student and faculty attendees also have the chance to network with both other students and global industry executives. Academic Partner members receive discounts to attend, and can also participate as panelists and moderators.

New in 2021: Music Biz’s Student Ambassadors program will allow up to two student representatives (Freshman, Sophomores or Juniors) from a Partner institution to collaborate with other schools, Association staff, and faculty. Our goals for this program are to:
