Damaged Shipments: Have The Changes Implemented Been Enough?
In 2022, the Music Business Association’s Physical Business Action Committee (PBAC) formed a Vinyl Shipping Best Practices Task Force to help set industry-wide standards for packing & shipping today’s most in-demand physical music product. With no set standards in place, retail locations often received damaged shipments with products deemed unsellable to the consumer. This results in lost revenues and frustration amongst consumers. While we have seen some changes to packaging since the standards were released, have we seen enough? During this session, retailers will showcase the good and not-so-good packages they have received over the past few months, and our wholesale and distribution partners will weigh in on what steps they have taken to implement better packaging & shipping standards.

Own It: A Campaign To Ensure Forever Access
As the SAG-AFTRA strike continues, consumers have seen their favorite TV series forced into an indefinite hiatus and movie productions halted. Blu-ray and DVDS are harder to find on the store shelves. Many are starting to question the future pricing structure of streaming services as they have begun to both cut content and increase monthly subscriptions costs. For both movies and music alike, streaming equates to renting your favorite entertainment. But, why not own it? The PBAC has been discussing a consumer campaign to reinforce that owning physical entertainment product is the best way to ensure that you have forever access to works from your favorite artist and actors. This presentation will give you additional insights into how the actors strike will impact consumers & retailers alike, and give you a chance to share ideas for a “Own It” campaign to reinforce with consumers the benefits of owning physical entertainment products.
