Digital music sales & livestream ticketing platform, Single Music, has started the month of May with a slew of announcements. May 3, 2021 – Music Biz Member Warner Music Group Partners With Genies for Artist Avatars & NFT Gear
Warner Music Group has announced a new partnership with avatar technology company, Genies, to develop a series of avatars from their artist roster, as well as artist-branded virtual clothing & accessories that Genies users can “wear” on their own avatars. Thanks to the partnership, WMG artists like Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars will now receive their own avatar and NFT lines; Genies has already created avatars for Cardi B, J Balvin, Rihanna and Justin Bieber. ... April 26, 2021 – Music Biz Member TuneCore Launches Southeast Asian Operations
After expanding its business into Latin America and Africa earlier in the year, music distribution platform TuneCore has announced that it has expanded its operations into Southeast Asia. TuneCore’s Southeast Asia business will be spearheaded by Cyrus Chen, who joined the company in late 2020 after stints with Changi Travel Services and eatigo International. April 21, 2021 – Music Biz Members Warner Music Group and Spotify Enter Podcast Development Deal
Warner Music Group (WMG) and Spotify have entered a new partnership to mutually develop a series of original podcasts built around WMG’s catalog of artists and songwriters. Podcasts developed as part of the partnership will made that tell stories, “behind some of the biggest hit songs and get an inside look at the work of their favorite artists and songwriters,” according to the announcement. April 13, 2021 – Music Biz Member Single Music Adds ARIA Chart Reporting
Digital music sales & livestream ticketing platform, Single Music, has announced that its digital music sales stats in Australia will now be automatically reported to the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) charts. Reporting for the ARIA charts recently moved from Sundays to Fridays, giving artists and their teams, “a potential preview of what’s to come in other worldwide chart releases,” according to the Single team.
