Amazon Prime Video is expanding beyond live sports and will launch a weekly livestream concerts series called “Amazon Music Live.” Hosted by rapper 2 Chainz, the series will feature interviews with and performances by artists including Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion and Kane Brown. October 20, 2022 – Music Biz Members Apple Music & Universal Music Group Enter Dolby Atmos Partnership with Mercedes-Benz

Apple Music, Universal Music Group and Mercedes-Benz have announced a new multi-faceted partnership centered around the integration of Dolby Atmos spatial audio. As part of the deal, Mercedes-Benz vehicles will become the first non-Apple product to natively offer Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos. UMG is also actively encouraging its artists and labels to produce music mixed in Dolby Atmos, and will allow artists to rate song mixes with an “Approved in a Mercedes-Benz” stamp of approval.... Warner Music Group has acquired a stake in Serbian record label, Mascom Records. The two companies will now build a roster of local Serbian artists who will have the opportunity to be up-streamed into Warner Music’s global network. US-based finance firm Sound Royalties has expanded into Canada, appointing Vanessa Thomas as head operations for the new market. October 13, 2022 – Music Biz Member Meta Offers Royalty-Free Music Library to Instagram Reels Advertisers

After a 30% increase in ad engagement in Q2 2022, Meta is offering advertisers the option to add royalty-free music to their Reel ads on both Instagram and Facebook. Advertisers will have the option of manually selecting a song or having it automated by Meta’s Ads Manager based on the content of the advertisement. In conjunction with this new offering, Meta will launch a pilot run of Facebook ads  that either play once a Reel has ended or that are skippable after a period of 4-10 seconds.... Read More
