September 20, 2023 – Music Biz Member TikTok & Billboard Partner To Launch TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart

Short-form video streaming platform, TikTok and music & entertainment magazine, Billboard have partnered to debut the TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart, a new weekly chart highlighting the most popular songs on the platform in the U.S. The chart’s stats will be based on a combination of creations, video views, and user engagement by the U.S. TikTok community. September 20, 2023 – Music Biz Member Universal Music Group Launches Desi Trill Label With Ty-Ty Smith & Shabz Naqvi

Universal Music Group has launched Desi Trill Music, a new label venture which will be led by Ty-Ty Smith and Shabz Naqvi. September 19, 2023 – Music Biz Member Spotify Launches AI-Powered ‘Daylist’ Playlist

Music streaming platform, Spotify has debuted Daylist, an AI-powered playlist which updates multiple times a day based upon users’ listening habits. The “hyper personalized” playlist refreshes hourly with a new title to complement each iteration. September 19, 2023 – Music Biz Member BMG Signs Global Publishing Deal With Jennifer Lopez

September 18, 2023 – Music Biz Member YouTube Celebrates Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary With Legacy Party

Video streaming platform, YouTube honored Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary and the genre’s impact in the UK during the second edition of its Legacy Party in London on September 7th. The event took place at London’s Royal Opera House where big names including Ms Dynamite, Mabel, Mahalia, Aitch and YouTube’s Lyor Cohen & Tuma Basa were in attendance. September 15, 2023 – Music Biz Member Concord Announces Intent To Buy Round Hill Music Royalty Fund

Independent music company, Concord has agreed to acquire the share capital of Round HIll Music Royalty Fund Ltd, with the fund’s collection of music rights estimated at $469 million. If approved, Concord will obtain the rights to the fund’s 51 catalogs and 150,000 songs by artists including Alice in Chains, Bonnie Tyler, Bush, Bruno Mars, Celion Dion, Lady A, Louis Armstrong, The Offspring, Carrie Underwood, The Supremes, Wilson Pickett and Whitesnake.  Click here to read more from Billboard.... Apple has announced that the company is set to acquire major Swedish Classical music record label, BIS Records.
