October 17, 2022 – Music Biz Member Warner Music Group Acquires Stake In Serbia’s Mascom Records
Warner Music Group has acquired a stake in Serbian record label, Mascom Records. The two companies will now build a roster of local Serbian artists who will have the opportunity to be up-streamed into Warner Music’s global network. US-based finance firm Sound Royalties has expanded into Canada, appointing Vanessa Thomas as head operations for the new market. October 13, 2022 – Music Biz Member Meta Offers Royalty-Free Music Library to Instagram Reels Advertisers
After a 30% increase in ad engagement in Q2 2022, Meta is offering advertisers the option to add royalty-free music to their Reel ads on both Instagram and Facebook. Advertisers will have the option of manually selecting a song or having it automated by Meta’s Ads Manager based on the content of the advertisement. In conjunction with this new offering, Meta will launch a pilot run of Facebook ads that either play once a Reel has ended or that are skippable after a period of 4-10 seconds.... Read More

October 3, 2022 – Music Biz Member The MLC Debuts “DURP” Portal For Independent Music Distributors
The Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) has unveiled its newest tool to help artists leverage their publicly available data set to maximize their royalty payments: the Distributor Unmatched Recordings Portal (DURP). The platform allows users to search the MLC’s data for their unmatched sound recordings, so they can more easily track the works they can register with the MLC to claim any outstanding royalty payments.
