Music distributor, The Orchard has expanded its global division for children and family entertainment with music brand, Magic Star. The partnership will give Magic Star’s family of childrens’ brands full access to The Orchard’s suite of artist, label services and global distribution network. October 17, 2022 – Music Biz Member SoundCloud Refreshes, Rebrands Creator Tools Suite as “SoundCloud for Artists”
SoundCloud is updating its creator suite and plans to launch new tools that will enable direct connectivity between artists and their biggest fans. The rebranded “SoundCloud for Artists” creator dashboard will allow users to see their top fans, as well as their earnings, streams, and top tracks, all in one portal. October 17, 2022 – Music Biz Member Warner Music Group Acquires Stake In Serbia’s Mascom Records
Warner Music Group has acquired a stake in Serbian record label, Mascom Records. The two companies will now build a roster of local Serbian artists who will have the opportunity to be up-streamed into Warner Music’s global network. Warner Music Group has named Julie Greenwald to the role of chairman & CEO for the newly created Atlantic Music Group. In this new role, she will oversee Atlantic Records (Atlantic, Atco, Big Beat, and Canvasback) and 300 Elektra Entertainment (300, Elektra, Fueled by Ramen, Roadrunner, Low Country Sound, DTA, and Public Consumption) alongside Craig Kallman. October 13, 2022 – Music Biz Member Sound Royalties Expands Into Canada; Names Vanessa Thomas Head of Operations for Region
US-based finance firm Sound Royalties has expanded into Canada, appointing Vanessa Thomas as head operations for the new market. Leading regional operations out of Toronto, Thomas will act as a consultant for Sound Royalties’ Canadian network. “I’ve spent my career working with creators and know where the gaps in supporting them are,” Thomas continued. “The Canadian market is wide open for this kind of model. October 13, 2022 – Music Biz Member Meta Offers Royalty-Free Music Library to Instagram Reels Advertisers
After a 30% increase in ad engagement in Q2 2022, Meta is offering advertisers the option to add royalty-free music to their Reel ads on both Instagram and Facebook. Advertisers will have the option of manually selecting a song or having it automated by Meta’s Ads Manager based on the content of the advertisement. In conjunction with this new offering, Meta will launch a pilot run of Facebook ads that either play once a Reel has ended or that are skippable after a period of 4-10 seconds.... Click Here To Read

Sony Music Nashville has promoted Nicole Marinake to the role of VP, Partnership Marketing & New Ventures. In this capacity, she will work closely with the label’s regional Promotion and Artist Development team to expand its regional footprint in the branding space. Prior to this role, she served as SMN’s Sr. Director, Partnership Marketing for five years.
