August 16, 2022 – Music Biz Member TikTok Launches New In-App Feature With Ticketmaster

Social media platform, TikTok has announced a new partnership with Ticketmaster, allowing users to purchase tickets for events while using the app. Creators will be able to link events via Ticketmaster by tapping the “add link” option before posting a video. August 15, 2022 – Music Biz Member Vydia Names Chris Maltese Director Of Label & Artist Relations

Vydia has named Chris Maltese as the company’s new Director of Label & Artist Relations. In his new role, he will work with the company’s legal, finance, and sales support teams; assist in client acquisition and onboarding; and manage label & artist relations teams on both coasts. August 15, 2022 – Music Biz Member DistroKid’s Artist Partners To Receive Monthly Grants From New Snapchat Fund

Artists distributing their music to Snapchat through Music Biz member, DistroKid can now claim monthly grants of up to $100,000 thanks to Snapchat’s new Sounds Creator Fund. The fund is currently available to U.S.-based artists who are currently signed to Snapchat’s music label and publisher partners. Currently the program is capped at 20 songs, and Snap says it will provide grants of $5,000 per song based on how engaged its users are with the track. “By providing meaningful funding and creative support,... Warner Records has promoted Miles Gersh as the company’s new VP, A&R. Since joining the company in 2019 as the Director, A&R, he has helped develop artists such as Zach Bryan and CJ. August 11, 2022 – Music Biz Member Sony Music Entertainment Promotes Jacob Fowler To EVP And CPO

Sony Music Entertainment has announced the promotion of Jacob Fowler to the roles of EVP and CPO, based in their New York office. August 11, 2022 – Music Biz Member YouTube Launches New ‘Shorts’ Tool

Online video sharing platform, YouTube has launched a new tool allowing users to create and publish 60-second “Shorts” from their existing videos. The feature will include familiar editing tools found on the app, and users can add photos from their gallery to create additional content. August 11, 2022 – Music Biz Member TikTok Launches Pre-Release Tool On SoundOn

TikTok has announced a new Pre-Release feature on their all-in-one platform for music creators, SoundOn. The new tool will allow artists to provide exclusive audio clips of their songs to TikTok listeners, as this can help create early momentum for viral songs and moments. Users can now access this tool in the U.S., Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, and in markets where SoundOn operates.  “Pre-releasing a song is a great way to test a track before its full launch,” said TikTok in a statement.... SoundExchange has promoted Luis Bonilla as the company’s new CTO. In his new role, he will be responsible for the technology systems and infrastructure at the company, in addition to overseeing creation and scaling of the company’s royalties tools. Universal Music Group has announced a new collaborative partnership with Virgin Records Germany, in the signing of DJ Afrojack and his label, Wall Recordings. The new alliance will launch a Dance and Electronic hub in the European region, aimed to support and amplify independent Electronic artists and labels. August 9, 2022 – Music Biz Members Jaxsta Inks Data Sharing Agreement With DistroKid

The world’s largest database of official music credits, Jaxsta has inked a data sharing agreement with leading indie music distributor, DistroKid. Per the terms of this partnership, DistroKid will now provide Jaxsta with over 2 million music credits from its database of more than 15 million global artists. DistroKid artists will now be able to use their Jaxsta profile as their resume for career opportunities, as well as update their profile to access Jaxsta features such as Chart Alerts and Credit Alerts by creating an embeddable music CV. ...
