Primary Wave has recruited veteran British music executive, Robin Godfrey-Cass to focus on catalog acquisitions of “iconic and legendary songwriters” for the company. Prior to his new role, he served as the youngest ever appointed Managing Director at Warner Chappell Music, where he was later promoted to SVP (Europe) in 1990. March 2, 2023 – Music Biz Members TikTok & FUGA Partner To Power SoundOn Distribution Service

TikTok has partnered with Amsterdam-based B2B tech and services company, FUGA to distribute music directly to TikTok and other DSPs, SoundOn users music to streaming platforms. Now, artists who upload their music to TikTok via the company’s SoundOn service will be able to automatically distribute to streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music via FUGA’s tech. March 1, 2023 – Music Biz Members Spotify & UMG Partner To Curate NFT Token-Gated Playlists With KINGSHIP

Spotify and Universal Music Group are teaming up to curate a token-enabled playlist for the label’s NFT band and brand, KINGSHIP. According to a tweet posted by UMG, the special playlist will exclusively be for KINGSHIP Key Card (NFT) holders. This token-enabled feature works by visiting the links shared via the KINGSHP’S official Discord and Twitter accounts. Sony Music Entertainment UK has appointed Jamie Spinks as Head of A&R at Columbia Records UK. In his role, he will be responsible for overseeing the direction of A&R strategy, as well as signing and developing talent for Columbia Records UK’s roster. February 28, 2023 – Music Biz Member Amazon Music Strikes Partnership With Generative AI Music Company, Endel

Amazon Music has announced its latest collaboration with generative AI music company, Endel to produce a wellness playlist using the company’s AI tech. Per the partnership, the companies will produce the “Sleep Science” playlist using Endel’s extensive research into the neuroscience of sleep. Endel’s patented AI engine produces scientifically backed sleep tracks that follow circadian rhythms, using synths and “chill” vocals that prepare the listener for sleep. February 24, 2023 – Music Biz Member ClicknClear Enters Performance Sports Music Licensing Deal With National Federation Of High School Associations

Music licensing company, ClicknClear has struck a multi-year partnership with the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) to provide licensed music from the catalogs of ClicknClear’s rightsholder partnersfor use in high school performance sports events, as well as access to the company’s License Verification System to ensure proper use of licensed music.
