December 12, 2023 – Music Biz Member The MLC Launches New Supplemental Matching Network

The Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) has assembled a Supplemental Matching Network that will provide data matching services to improve the MLC’s current processes and capabilities. The network will initially be supported by five companies: Music Biz member Pex, Blokur, Jaxsta, Salt and SoundExchange’s SX Works. December 11, 2023 – Music Biz Member Tuned Global Strikes New Partnerships Across Africa

International B2B music services company, Tuned Global has struck three new partnerships with Africa-based music streaming services Sewasew in Ethiopia, Jumamo in Nigeria, and Tieme in Ghana. Tuned Global aims to transform music streaming in Africa by supporting local artists and providing customized technology solutions based on the market’s unique needs. December 8, 2023 – Music Biz Universal Music Strikes Licensing Deal With Sewasew In Ethiopia

Universal Music Group is expanding its footprint in Africa via a new licensing deal with Ethiopian music and entertainment company, Sewasew Multimedia. Per the partnership, Ethiopian consumers will gain access to a broad range of music from UMG’s catalog, while Sewasew will license and market UMG’s music across the country. Sony Music has unveiled a new AI-powered project featuring music by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and Electronic music group, The Orb. Music rights management company, BMI has announced the company will be acquired by investment firm New Mountain Capital, LLC. Per the acquisition, New Mountain will fund growth investments, new ventures and technology to improve BMI’s mission to maximize distributions and the service it provides songwriters, composers and distributors.
