April 27, 2020 – Music Biz Member Bandcamp Waives Commissions on Sales for First Fridays in May, June and July
This Friday, May 1, Music Biz member Bandcamp will waive its revenue share on sales of music and merch products, giving 100 percent of the proceeds to artists to support them through the COVID-19 crisis. The company will do the same on Friday, June 5 and Friday, July 3 to further support its artist partners. Bandcamp first took this measure on Friday, March 20, which saw music fans spend $4.3 million in direct support their favorite artists — more than 15 times what is sold on a typical Friday.... April 23, 2020 – Music Biz Member Spotify Introduces Artist Fundraising Pick
In light of the current health crisis, Music Biz member Spotify is launching the Artist Fundraising Pick, a feature that allows artists to highlight a fundraising destination on their Spotify profile to their fans. Artists can use the feature to raise money for themselves, their crew and teams, or a verified organization participating in the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief Project. Spotify is partnering with Cash App, GoFundMe, and PayPal.me to collect and process donations, with Cash App specifically establishing a $1 million relief fund for artists. ... Read More
April 16, 2020 – Music Biz Member Patra Sinner Offering Free Legal Counsel Amidst COVID-19 Crisis
Music Biz member Patra Sinner, an entertainment attorney with Sodoma Law, is offering free 30 minute consultations to creative professionals and entities through May 15, 2020. April 16, 2020 – Qobuz Expands “Gimme Shelter” Artist Support Program to Include Streaming Revenues
Music Biz Member Qobuz is engaging in phase two of their “Gimme Shelter” relief campaign, returning 100% of revenue made to rightsholders or the artists and writers. These funds will come from new subscribers who join from April 10th through May 15th. Qobuz, the music service with the world’s largest Hi-Res catalog, is also passing along 100% of its revenue share in its download sales to the artists and rights holders through April 26th. ... April 13, 2020 – SoundCloud Unveils $15 Million Plan to Support Artists During COVID-19 Health Crisis
After previously rolling out a number of support initiatives — including offering its SoundCloud Pro Unlimited subscription for 50% off through March 30 and providing access to Twitch’s Affiliate program — Music Biz member SoundCloud has announced a plan worth $15 million to support creators during the shutdown, as well as initiatives designed to bolster their careers long-term. Music Biz member JamBase has debuted a new livestream calendar which allows artists to easily publicize their livestreams and reach their fans from the comfort of their homes. April 7, 2020 – Music Biz Member Show4me Launches Online Concert Platform, Waives Fees to Support Artists
Music Biz member Show4me today announced the launch of a new online concert platform, enabling musicians to play paid shows from their homes. Throughout the duration of the COVID-19 crisis, Show4me will give the fees they would normally collect from this service back to the artists to help them recoup some of the income they have lost out due to cancelled tours. The company also will waive fees for its other services for two months, to further support the artists using their interactive music network platform.... Read More
