April 6, 2017 – The Music Business Association (Music Biz) will honor award-winning Country superstar and multimedia entertainment mogul Reba McEntire with the prestigious Chairman’s Award for Sustained Creative Achievement. April 5, 2017 – [IN THE NEWS] Georgia Music Investment Act Passes State Legislature, Aims to Create 10,000 New Jobs and Boost Economy
A seven-year campaign to establish a tax incentive for Georgia’s music industry is coming closer to reality. The House of Representatives (157-11) and state Senate (46-7) voted last night (March 30) in favor of the Georgia Music Investment Act (House Bill 155), which is aimed at creating more than 10,000 new job opportunities and boosting the state’s overall economy. Music Biz President James Donio released the following statement regarding the 2016 RIAA Shipment & Revenue Statistics report released today: In an accomplishment that illuminates a promising path forward, the U.S. music industry notched its biggest overall revenue growth in nearly two decades last year, according to the newly released 2016 RIAA Shipment and Revenue Statistics report. Total revenue was up 11.4% in 2016, reaching a total of $7.7 billion driven by massive growth in the streaming sector.... Read More
