Music Biz 2027 Call For Presentations

Music Biz’s invitation for industry professionals like you to share your knowledge and expertise!

From the rapid adoption of new AI tech tools and finding new solutions to combat music fraud to discovering the next global music hubs and rethinking how we do business, the music business is changing fast! And, 2027 is shaping up to be another year of transformation.

What conversations should the music industry be having right now?
We want to hear from you!

As we build the program for Music Biz 2027, May 17–20 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, we’re calling on music professionals from across the global ecosystem to submit ideas for timely, thought-provoking sessions that will spark meaningful conversations that will transcend the four-days of the conference. Bring us the trends you’re tracking, the challenges you’re tackling, the solutions you’re building and the ideas that will help move our industry forward.

The submission portal is open now thru 11:59 PM PST on Monday, December 7th.

SUBMIT YOUR PROGRAM PROPOSAL HERE

BEFORE SUBMITTING, please be sure you know the makeup of the Music Biz conference audience and understand the conference schedule.

  • 90% of the conference programming is geared toward our core membership segments: Record Stores, Online Retailers & Wholesalers; DSP, Streaming & Internet Radio; Labels, Distribution & Publishing; Music Rights Administration; Startup & Tech; Business & Artist Strategy; and Music Marketing & Artist Promotions. Program submissions for these segments should be 201 and 301-level discussions.
  • Artists are invited to attend the one-day Music Biz Roadshow program that will take place on Monday, May 17. Therefore, “Music Business 101”-type presentations geared specifically towards artists will only be considered for this portion of the conference.

There are a few important criteria to keep in mind as you craft your best program submission for Music Biz 2027:

  • While Music Biz membership is not a requirement for submitting a proposal, active members are given priority consideration. There are many benefits to membership beyond participation in the Annual Conference — to learn more, visit musicbiz.org/about or contact our Membership Director, Sonya Askew, at sonya.askew@musicbiz.org.
  • All topics MUST present a balanced perspective, ensuring that attendees understand the full spectrum of an issue and that key industry stakeholders are given a chance to weigh in on the discussion from their vantage point.
  • NO sales pitch-oriented presentations will be considered.
  • Presentations, case studies, conversation/interview formats, and panels are encouraged. Those sessions that lend themselves best to a panel format MUST be limited to no more than one (1) moderator and three (3) panelists.
  • Presenters/panelists MUST be diverse in gender, ethnicity, age, geographic location, areas of expertise, and ideologies. If balance and diversity are not achieved, the Association reserves the right to disqualify submissions, or suggest/add participants to a discussion to ensure that our standards are met.

The Fine Print:

Deadlines

  • Submissions must be received by 11:59 PM PST on Mon., December 7th, 2026.
  • Those whose submissions are chosen will be contacted by January 29th, 2027.

Expenses

  • There are no fees required to submit a proposal.
  • Presenters/panelists will receive a complimentary full registration to attend the event.
  • Music Biz does NOT pay per diem or honoraria, or provide travel expenses or hotel accommodations for those chosen to speak. Please let your panelists know this when you ask them to fill a panel slot.
  • Music Biz does NOT offer speakers complimentary passes for personal assistants, PR teams or local colleagues to attend the conference as their guest.

Optional Speaker Training

  • For the past three years, Music Biz has offered FREE virtual trainings for moderators and speakers. These sessions are presented by Kia Jarmon from the MEPR Agency and will take place during the first two weeks of April. Details to be circulated once submissions are chosen.
