Information Technology Workgroups

Mission: Create a forum for education, promotion, and creation of information technology initiatives for the music industry. For members whose work is primarily focused on digital operations, data integrity, and strategic integrations.

Digital Operations & Metadata Workgroup

Mission

  • To streamline digital operations in the content supply chain and reporting process, including coordinating and standardizing all non-recorded music assets relevant to the digital music value chain, such as artist images, credits, liner notes, archival assets, and more.

Events

  • Music Metadata Summit – Held annually during our flagship event, the Summit is designed for music and technology executives to understand the importance of managing information.

Past Deliverables

  • Music Metadata Style Guide (V2.1) – provides a set of common naming conventions and data entry standards for companies to use when listing, ingesting, and managing digital music. The updated guide adds several new sections and introduces the first-ever Classical Metadata Style Guide. Released 9.30.15 – Click here to read more and to download the Guide.
  • Ongoing education and promotion of music metadata initiatives (e.g., DDEX, ISNI, ISRC)
  • MetaMillions (whitepaper) – examines the current state of digital asset collection, curation, and contextualization, presenting the business case for the establishment of standardized frameworks.
