TRUST & SAFETY SYMPOSIUM RETURNS NEXT YEAR!

The Music Business Association, in collaboration with Believe & TuneCore, will host the second annual Trust & Safety in Music Symposium at the Eisner and Lubin Auditorium at NYU’s Kimmel Center! In the event’s second iteration, we will explore the implications of the Michael Smith case and assess how effective our industry has been at addressing fraud.

In our opening keynote, TuneCore CEO, Andreea Gleeson will set the stage for the rest of our 2025 program by speaking to Katherine Reilly, Co-Chief, Complex Frauds & Cybercrime Unit, US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of NY. Reilly is a member of the team that brought the case against Michael Smith, who utilized AI to create hundreds of thousands of songs, using bot accounts and fake users to steal roughly $10 million from the music industry over seven years. What can we as an industry learn from Smith’s arrest on Sept. 4th, and how will it change how we do business?
