Music Biz’s Academic Partnership program was founded to meet the specific needs of the music industry’s next generation of leaders and those who teach them. Once an institution of higher education becomes an Academic Partner, our team will provide staff members with information on how they can access resources & discounts from Music Biz and our partners, as well as how their students can apply for scholarships and attend special student-focused events. Below, you’ll find the full list of Academic Partner colleges & universities, and learn all about our academia-specific benefits!
As one of our most valued benefits, our Scholarship Foundation allows students from Academic Partner institutions to apply for financial aid packages. To date, the Foundation has given almost $10 million in financial assistance, with 2021 being our most successful year as 20 outstanding students each received a $5,000 scholarship!

Our #NEXTGEN_U student events feature keynotes, panel discussions and breakout groups focused on supporting today’s students as they prepare to enter the working world. Both virtual and in-person events will be offered during the academic year. Educators from Academic Partner members can participate as panelists and moderators.

Academic Partner staff members can also attend our Common Ground Webinar Series for free, as well as access recordings of past free Music Biz events.
Starting in 2024, Music Biz will offer educators a discounted conference rate of $499 to attend the Annual Music Biz Conference, taking place May 13-16, 2024 in Nashville. More details on how to register will be provided in October 2023.
The Music Business Educator of the Year award celebrates an educator who inspires students to enter the music business. The winner will lead by example and teach across the breadth and depth of the industry to open students’ awareness to the possibilities available in the music industry today. Educators at Academic Partnership institutions are eligible to be nominated for this award, which is given as part of the Bizzy Awards program at our Annual Music Biz Conference.

NOTE: The Music Business Association does not maintain a student email database, and relies on the staff at our academic partner institutions to disseminate scholarship criteria, event details and other important information to their students. We are happy to provide graphics or copy to make communicating this info more efficient.
