[WEEKLY SALES] Streisand Shifts 149,000 Units To Debut at #1
Music Biz President James Donio commented on the recent sales figures released by Nielsen (published in Billboard) and BuzzAngle Music:
It was a big week for new releases, with three albums debuting with over 100,000 units for the first time since November 2015. They were led by the incomparable Barbra Streisand, who moved 149,000 equivalent album units (including 148,000 in traditional album sales) of Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway to land her 11th chart-topper, extending her record for most #1s by a female artist and tying her with Bruce Springsteen for third-most overall. Country duo Florida Georgia Line follows with Dig Your Roots at #2 (145,000 units including 126,000 in traditional sales) and Pop queen Britney Spears lands at #3 with Glory (111,000 units including 88,000 in traditional sales). Also starting in the Top 10 was Rapper Young Thug, whose album Jeffery reaches #8 on the Billboard 200 and #7 on the BuzzAngle Music chart. Next week, we’ll be following new albums from Hip-Hop artist Travis Scott and Rock band A Day to Remember.”
