[WEEKLY SALES] Linkin Park Puts Rock Back On Top

James Donio, President of the Music Business Association (Music Biz), commented on this week’s sales numbers issued by Nielsen (published in Billboard) and BuzzAngle Music (published in HITS Daily Double).

“Rock made its way back to the top of the Nielsen and BuzzAngle Music charts this week, with veteran Hard Rock outfit Linkin Park reaching #1 for the sixth time with One More Light. The album moved over 111,000 album equivalent units, far exceeding industry expectations and putting Linkin Park in the rarified company of only eight other Rock acts that have reached #1 at least six times, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, U2, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Eagles, and Metallica. Next week, we’ll see whether Hip-Hop can take back the top spot with new albums from Bryson Tiller and Lil Yachty debuting. We’ll also be closely following the trajectory of The Beatles’ 50th anniversary reissue of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Shakira’s El Dorado.”
