[WEEKLY SALES] Kesha Claims Her Second #1 Album with ‘Rainbow’ after Seven Years

James Donio, President of the Music Business Association (Music Biz), commented on this week’s sales numbers issued by Nielsen (published in Billboard) and BuzzAngle Music (published in HITS Daily Double):

“It’s been a long journey back to the top of the charts for Pop star Kesha — 7 years, 7 months, and 10 days to be exact. Now, she can claim her second #1 album with Rainbow, which debuted atop the Nielsen and BuzzAngle Music charts this week with album equivalent sales of over 116,000. It’s the second-best week for a female artist in 2017, trailing only Katy Perry’s Witness, and was boosted by a bundle deal for fans who bought tickets to Kesha’s upcoming tour. It’s a tactic that appears to be gaining favor after successful campaigns by Arcade Fire, The Chainsmokers, Linkin Park, and Katy Perry this year. Rapper Moneybagg Yo also landed in the Top 10 of both charts for the first time with Federal 3X, which reached #5 on the Billboard 200 and #8 on the BuzzAngle Music chart.”
