[WEEKLY SALES] Drake’s ‘More Life’ Spends Third Week on Top
James Donio, President of the Music Business Association (Music Biz), commented on this week’s sales numbers issued by Nielsen (published in Billboard) and Border City Media (published in HITS Daily Double).
Drake continued his domination of the Nielsen and BuzzAngle Music charts this week, spending his third straight frame at #1 with More Life. It’s the first time any album has spent its first three weeks at the top since Drake himself did so in June 2016 with Views. It’s a huge victory for Hip-Hop that is bolstered further by the #3 debut of Kodak Black with his first album Painting Pictures, featuring the hit single ‘Tunnel Vision.’ Other notable debuts include Metal band Mastodon at #7 on the Billboard 200 and #6 on BuzzAngle Music with Emperor of Sand, as well as Christian music group MercyMe at #10 on the Billboard 200 with Lifer. Next week, we’ll see whether a flood of new releases from The Chainsmokers, Pentatonix, Bethel Music, Father John Misty, Joey Bada$$, and The New Pornographers can knock Drake off the pedestal.
