Music Biz Member Warner Music Group Joins Deezer’s Artist-Centric Royalties System In France

Warner Music Group has partnered with music streaming service, Deezer to endorse the company’s artist-centric royalty system in France. Deezer’s royalty payment model will focus on a reward system for “Professional” artists, those with at least 1,000 monthly streams & 500 unique listeners, and “Engaging” artists, whose music is actively searched for and played by fans. 

“As we’ve consistently said, we’re committed to working with the streaming platforms to evolve business models to better reflect the value and fan engagement driven by artists, songwriters and their art,” said Alain Veille, President of Warner Music France. “So we are delighted to partner with Deezer on this artist-centric model, which rewards engaging music and demonetizes non-artist noise. Our new deal will benefit creative talent at all stages of their careers and support our ability to invest in the next generation.”
