Music Biz Member TikTok Creates In-House Music Distribution Platform

TikTok has launched SoundOn, the platform’s all-in-one service for music marketing and distribution designed to empower new and undiscovered artists. Artists can directly upload their music to TikTok and onto DSPs including Spotify and Apple Music, as well as onto other content sharing platforms such as Instagram. SoundOn will pay out 100% royalties to music creators in the first year and 90% after that, while providing a range of promotional tools and support. Released in beta mode in September, SoundOn is now live in the US, UK, Brazil and Indonesia.

“New artists and musical creators are a vibrant community within TikTok and SoundOn is designed to support them as they take the first steps in their career,” said TikTok Global Head of Music, Ole Obermann. “Our SoundOn teams will guide creators on their journey to the big stage and bring the expertise and power of TikTok to life for the artist. We’re incredibly excited about how this will surface and propel new talent and how SoundOn will contribute to an increasingly diverse and growing global music industry.”
