Music Biz Member The MLC Issues Nearly $700M in Royalties to Songwriters and Publishers
In just a year and a half, The Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) has directly paid nearly $700 million in blanket royalties to its members. As reported by the MLC following its second annual membership meeting, rightsholders have obtained more than $800 million to date, with about $120 million in royalties being processed by the MLC and paid out by DSPs. Since January 2021, the MLC has processed and paid out mechanical royalties at no cost to songwriters or music publishers.
“We’re incredibly proud of these accomplishments,” stated Kris Ahrend, CEO of The MLC. “Our team has worked hard to build robust data processing systems that allow us to distribute royalties accurately and on time.”
