Music Biz Member Sony Music Announces Generative AI Music Project With Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and The Orb

Sony Music has unveiled a new AI-powered project featuring music by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and Electronic music group, The Orb. The initiative invites fans to remix music and the cover art from The Orb and Gilmour’s latest album, Metallic Spheres In Colour, using AI-powered tools. The project is powered by machine learning and a custom generative AI model developed for the project. Fans can visit metallicspheres.io now to create their own personalized AI track and artwork. 

“As we think about where this is headed [artists can] express themselves in various ways and want to express themselves in various ways,” said Dennis Kooker, President, Global Digital Business & US Sales, Sony Music. “The fact that we have something that [allows] a musician to give a piece of their music [with which] fans can engage is a pretty big step, and [it is taking place] in a trusted and authenticated way.”
