Music Biz Member Def Jam Records Appoints Tunji Balogun as Chairman & CEO

This week, Def Jam Records announced that Tunji Balogun, RCA’s EVP of A&R, will take the helm as the label’s Chairman and CEO beginning January 1, 2022. He will replace Def Jam’s current interim Chairman and CEO, Jeffrey Harleston, who also serves as Universal Music Group’s general counsel and EVP of Business & Legal Affairs.

Balogun joined RCA after spending more than seven years with Interscope. While with RCA, he helped facilitate a number of high-profile signings, including Khalid,Brockhampton, Normani and Bryson Tiller. Balogun was named EVP of A&R in 2018, the same year he co-founded the Keep Cool joint venture label with RCA.
