‘The Greatest Showman’ soundtrack reaches #1: Comment from Music Biz President James Donio
James Donio, President of the Music Business Association (Music Biz), commented on this week’s sales numbers issued by Nielsen (published by Billboard) and BuzzAngle Music (published by HITS Daily Double).
“Film audiences can’t get enough of Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron’s new musical The Greatest Showman, and the movie’s success is translating into music sales for its soundtrack album, according to the Nielsen and BuzzAngle Music charts. The record moved over 105,000 album equivalent units this week to climb to the #1 spot on both charts and become only the 10th soundtrack to reach the summit in the last five years. It’s also the fourth collective #1 showing for Jackman and Efron, who previously topped the charts as part of the soundtracks to Les Miserables (Jackman) and High School Musical 1&2 (Efron).”
