Parental Advisory Checklist For Retailers

The entertainment retailing community has been under increased pressure by the Federal Trade Commission to step up consumer awareness initiatives about entertainment ratings and labeling programs. In an effort to teach parents about these programs, the Music Business Association along with other leading entertainment retail trade associations, have elected to make June “Entertainment Ratings & Labeling Awareness Month.” Since June is the traditional start of summer, children will be enjoying even more entertainment during their summer vacations.

Here is a checklist to follow to be sure that your business is equipped with the resources to promote consumer awareness of entertainment ratings and labeling programs:

Have you:

  • Checked your parental advisory materials inventory to makes sure you have enough?
  • Ordered additional parental advisory merchandising materials from the Music Business Association?
  • Reviewed your sales policies concerning labeled product with your employees?
  • Added (where necessary) the parental advisory logo to your web site?
