Music Biz 2023 Call For
Presentations & Speakers

Music Biz’s invitation for industry professionals like you to share your knowledge and expertise!

For more than six decades, the Music Biz Conference has been the point of origin for ideas and partnerships that have transformed the ways our industry conducts business. Collaboration during the event’s educational panels, networking opportunities and private meetings causes a ripple effect of conversations and ideas that positively impact the global industry throughout the rest of the year.

As we prepare for Music Biz 2023, May 15-18 at the JW Marriott Nashville, we’re thrilled to once again offer the industry at large a chance to submit ideas, panels, and presentations for our Annual Conference. We adopted a community-sourced program model a few years ago, and truly believe that this approach has elevated the Music Biz Conference program to the high caliber that attendees have come to expect.

Update 12-12-22: The 2023 Call for Presentations has closed — thanks to all who sent in their panel ideas! Submitters will be updated on the status of their entry in mid-January 2023. Visit musicbiz2023.com for registration info, hotel bookings, Bizzy Award nominations and everything else for our Annual Conference!

Our annual Call for Presentations allows you to submit your most creative, well-thought-out ideas that adhere to our submission criteria that offer high-level conversations on ways to 1) best monetize music in today’s marketplace and 2) create a healthier & more inclusive work environment for everyone engaged in the business of music.

There are a few important criteria to keep in mind as you craft your best program submission for Music Biz 2023:

While Music Biz membership is not a requirement for submitting a proposal, members are given priority consideration. There are many benefits to membership beyond participation in the Annual Conference — to learn more, visit musicbiz.org/about.

All topics MUST present a balanced perspective, ensuring that attendees understand the full spectrum of an issue and that key industry stakeholders are given a chance to weigh in on the discussion from their vantage point.

Please know your audience. Music Biz Conference attendees include the following industry players: commercial businesses (interactive and non-interactive streaming services, online and physical stores, etc.); internet radio services; aggregators; major & independent labels and distributors; label services; brands; data providers; information technology companies; rights management & metadata solutions; startups; publishers and performing rights organizations; artist managers; business managers and finance professionals; supervisors; touring professionals; marketing & PR professionals; startups; lawyers; and educators. Few artists attend our event, so presentations geared specifically toward the artist will be disqualified.

Presenters/panelists MUST be diverse in gender, ethnicity, age, geographic location, areas of expertise, and ideologies. This push is in line with Music Biz’s aim to accelerate change in the music industry and create a more inclusive environment for present and future generations. If balance and diversity are not achieved, the Association reserves the right to disqualify submissions, or suggest/add participants to a discussion to ensure that our standards are met.

Presentations, case studies, conversation/interview formats, and panels are encouraged. Those sessions that lend themselves best to a panel format MUST be limited to no more than a moderator and three (3) panelists.

NO sales pitch-oriented presentations will be considered.
