Music Biz 2023
Music Biz’s invitation for industry professionals like you to share your knowledge and expertise!
Whether we are meeting virtually or face-to-face, Music Biz creates the rooms in which the important conversations that shape the future of our industry take place.
As we make the transition from our virtual event series of the last 18 months to planning for Music Biz 2022 — which will be a hybrid event at the JW Marriott in Nashville — we are again asking you to submit your ideas, panels, and presentations for our Annual Conference.
We adopted a community-sourced program model a few years ago, and truly believe that this approach has elevated the Music Biz Conference program to the high caliber that attendees have come to expect. By working together, we believe that our industry, your business and your people will be stronger as a result!
From now until 12am PST on December 6, submit your most creative, well-thought-out ideas that offer high-level conversations on ways to 1) best monetize music in today’s marketplace and 2) create a healthier & more inclusive work environment for everyone engaged in the business of music, be they from the commerce, content, or creative communities. Click here to view our full list of criteria.
Music Biz welcomes creative ideas — successes, strategies and innovative approaches to addressing the timely issues affecting the modern music industry. Below are a list of program categories that current members and previous attendees have found most valuable (in no particular order):

Note: Music Biz is using the OpenWater platform to facilitate this year’s Call for Presentations. Upon clicking the link above, you will be prompted to make an OpenWater account before you can submit your panel idea.
Individuals wishing to be considered for speaking at Music Biz 2022, or any of Music Biz’s events, can complete our new Speaker Submission Form linked here. This form helps us collect information about you and your interests, so we can match you to events and speaking opportunities that best fit your skillset as they arise throughout the year.
While Music Biz membership is not a requirement for submitting a proposal, members are given priority consideration. There are many benefits to membership beyond participation in the Annual Conference — to learn more, visit musicbiz.org/about.
As we prepare for Music Biz 2022, we are continuing to monitor the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic and will make decisions based on CDC guidelines and in the best interest of our attendees. We will require all attendees to show proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours, before receiving their Music Biz 2022 badge at the JW Marriott beginning May 8, 2022. For those who are unvaccinated, are infected with the virus, or are not yet comfortable or permitted to travel, a virtual component of the conference is being offered.
All topics MUST present a balanced perspective, ensuring that attendees understand the full spectrum of an issue and that key industry stakeholders are given a chance to weigh in on the discussion from their vantage point.
Please know your audience. Music Biz Conference attendees include the following industry players: commercial businesses (interactive and non-interactive streaming services, online and physical stores, etc.); internet radio services; aggregators; major & independent labels and distributors; label services; brands; data providers; information technology companies; rights management & metadata solutions; startups; publishers and performing rights organizations; artist managers; business managers and finance professionals; supervisors; touring professionals; marketing & PR professionals; startups; lawyers; and educators.
Presenters/panelists MUST be diverse in gender, ethnicity, age, geographic location, areas of expertise, and ideologies. This push is in line with Music Biz’s aim to accelerate change in the music industry and create a more inclusive environment for present and future generations. If balance and diversity are not achieved, the Association reserves the right to disqualify submissions, or suggest/add participants to a discussion to ensure that our standards are met.
Presentations, case studies, conversation/interview formats, and panels are encouraged.
Those sessions that lend themselves best to a panel format MUST be limited to no more than a moderator and three (3) panelists.
NO sales pitch-oriented presentations will be considered.
